Quarried Stone Care    409.832.2444

We love and appreciate the beauty of quarried stone in your home or office.  Cleaning and caring for marble, granite, slate, travertine, limestone, etc. is not something to leave to the non-professional.  Your stone is too beautiful to be potentially ruined by use of the wrong products and/or cleaning process.

What We Don't Do...

We don't do any of the following when working around natural stone:

  • We do not use any of our general cleaning solutions around natural stones.  We don't even use our great window cleaner on mirrors over natural stone vanities due to the possibility of overspray.  (While little damage could occur, the ph of our normal products is such that slight etching could occur with extended use).  We also do not use our standard bathroom cleaning products in the toilets if the toilet is mounted on a natural stone floor.  The same goes for tubes and shower stalls if they are in close proximity of natural stone.

  • We do not use any "powdery cleanser" or "soft-scrub" products in proximity to natural stone.

  • We do not use any over-the-counter soap scum or mildew removers in proximity to natural stone.

  • We do not use any over-the-counter disinfectants in proximity to stone as they are too harsh.

  • We do not use any form of "stone soap", as it leaves a hard-to-remove deposit.  Even those soaps that refer to themselves as "rinse-free" are not used, as they build up a streaky, smeary finish over time that must then be removed with a harsh stripper (usually made by the same company!).  We also do not use "dish soap", which is recommended by some, as it too builds up scum on the surface over time.

  • We don't use any solutions of water and vinegar anywhere close to natural stone, as the high level of acetic acid present in vinegar could be devastating to the stone.

  • We do not use any type of scouring pad except white pads, which cannot scratch the surface of natural stone as can green or brown pads.

What We Do....

Our cleaning process for natural stone surfaces uses the following process and specialized products.

  • For all areas in proximity of natural stone, we use only specialized products.  Specifically those produced by MB Stone Restoration in New Jersey.  MB Stone was founded by Mr. Maurizio Bertoli, who has spent a lifetime in the natural stone industry and we agree with his tag line, "Simply the best...In the Finest Italian Tradition."   This includes products for soap scum and mildew removal in bathrooms, cleaners and polishers for counter tops, and a special disinfectant for use on natural stone kitchen counters.

  • We clean natural stone flooring using a process that not only produces streak-free results, but actually enhances the shine of your flooring.  Our process involves the use of professional terry cloth mop head that is only used once on your floor.  Once it is dirty, it is replaced with a clean mop head.  This is a more costly, but far superior method of protecting the finish of your floors.  We use MB-1 Marble, Granite and More Floor Cleaner.  We apply this product but do not rinse it off.  This product contains specially selected inorganic salts that are meant to be left on the surface to act as moisturizers, as well as optical brighteners.

  • We do use cleaners, disinfectants and mildew removers specifically designed for use on natural stone.  These products will not hard or even etch the stone's surface.

  • We treat your natural stone with the attention and care it deserves, using only the best products available coupled with superior methods and training.
